Tried to add favicon to blog, but got rather confused, somebody please help!
I have tried following through the instruction for adding a favicon to the letter, but I am scratching my head so much now it is giving me brain ache aaaarrrggghhhh!! Firstly I generated the favicon I wished to use, which was no trouble. I then downloaded it and installed it on my blog site using ftp, but this is where the instructions aren’t that clear, it doesn’t say where it needs to be placed in wordpress. I placed the generated favicon file in the mushblue theme on the ftp and uploaded it to the server. Then I added the code on the header.php here:
![]()
Unsurprisingly this did not work, in fact when I first added this I sent my whole blog a little crazy and moved everything to the left???!!!! So I thought rather than messing up my whole site I better quit while I’m ahead and seek expert advice from Mez
No commentsChanged Blog Post Headers and Body Text Colours
I changed the post header colour to red, and main body text to white in order to give my site a consistant colour scheme which matches the new banner and background image I have created. Again, in order to do this, I found the required code for red and white from http://html-color-codes.com/ and replaced the previous existing code that I had entered.
The site is really starting to have a consistant theme running all the way through it now, mostly due to configuring the CSS and adding the various plugins etc. There may just be hope for multimedia rejects like myself yet!!
No commentsChanged Colours of Page links
I have changed the page links at the top of the page from orange to white, changing to red when scrolled over, using CSS, so that the text colour matches the new banner I have created thus giving the top part of the top part of the blog a more professional look.
No commentsMajor amendments to Header and Background
I felt that I would like a more subtle, professional look and feel to my blog as perspective employers may well view this site, so therefore I would like to create a good impression. I therefore have redesigned both the background image and the banner at the top of the site and uploaded it to my site using the ftp manager in dreamweaver. Here is a screen shot of how my old background image and banner used to look before its image make over:

Changed Side bar colour, and then changed back…it looked rubbish
I changed the colour of the side bar on my site through making adjustments to the style sheet. However, clearly there was a bit of a colour clash…it looked like terrible, so I changed it back to black. Here is a screen shot of this fashion disaster so you can see what I mean:

Changed text body colour using CSS
I wasn’t happy with the blue body colour, it was too dark, and blended in to much with the background black, so therefore I found the code needed to create a yellowey-geen colour and changed it to that in the style sheet. I think this looks alot better and makes the text stand out and alot easier to read. I also changed the colour of the page links at the top right hand corner of my blog, just because I can!
I’m really making these adjustments and adding the various plugins as the blog is now really starting to look and feel like my own now.
No commentsMinor change to blog footer using CSS
In order to personalise my blog a little more, I have removed the “This blog is proudly powered by Wordpress and themed by Mukka Mu” and replaced it with “Craig’s blog, get yourself involved”. I want this site to be totally my own, without and sneeky wordpress advertising or accreditation, which is why I changed it.
No commentsSnap Shot Now Working!!!
I’ve finally managed to get my snap shot plugin working. I downloaded the snapshot plugin from Wordpress, uploaded it to my site using ftp. Then I configured my snapshot plugin using the dashboard and inserted the required 32 digit code which was generated when I signed up to my snapshot account at http://www.snap.com/.
It is now working as it displays a snap of all external links on my site. Scroll over an external link to view..
No commentsAdded PHP Test
I have just added a php test to my site, which is a simple game of naughts and crosses. In order to do this I found some pre written php code on Mez’s blog. I then copied the code, and pasted it in a new PHP document in dreamweaver. I saved this as index.php, in a new folder called phptest. This was then placed in my wordpress site in dreamweaver. I then uploaded this new phptest folder to the server. This very simple game can be found at http://craig.covuniblog.com/phptest
Here is a lettle screen shot of my game if your interested:

Downloaded Wordpress Themes
I decided to to see how my website would look when in several different theme templates I’ve previously downloaded, just to spice things up a little. I downloaded each of the below themes and uploaded them to the server using the ftp manager in dreamweaver. I then activated each of them using the dashboard. However I didn’t like these themes, I much preferred the mushblue theme, which I downloaded and then dramatically edited to give it a personal touch. Here are screen shots of all the themes I downloaded and used, just to prove my ftp and theme installation capabillities:
Wordpress Default Theme:

Wordpress Classic Theme:

Box Blue Theme:

Cutline 3 Theme:
