Favicon Issues possibly sorted

May 02nd, 2008 | Category: Dreamweaver, CSS and PHP, Uncategorized

I think I may just have managed to get my favicon working. It was simply a question of inserting the relevant coding into the head tag. I think the problem with my last attempt was that I inserted the code in the wrong place. My friend Tom assures me that my favicon should show up within the next day or so. This is the image I chose for my favicon:

Changed Blog Post Headers and Body Text Colours

April 26th, 2008 | Category: Dreamweaver, CSS and PHP, Uncategorized

I changed the post header colour to red, and main body text to white in order to give my site a consistant colour scheme which matches the new banner and background image I have created. Again, in order to do this, I found the required code for red and white from http://html-color-codes.com/ and replaced the previous existing code that I had entered.

The site is really starting to have a consistant theme running all the way through it now, mostly due to configuring the CSS and adding the various plugins etc. There may just be hope for multimedia rejects like myself yet!!

Changed text body colour using CSS

April 25th, 2008 | Category: Dreamweaver, CSS and PHP, Uncategorized

I wasn’t happy with the blue body colour, it was too dark, and blended in to much with the background black, so therefore I found the code needed to create a yellowey-geen colour and changed it to that in the style sheet. I think this looks alot better and makes the text stand out and alot easier to read. I also changed the colour of the page links at the top right hand corner of my blog, just because I can!

I’m really making these adjustments and adding the various plugins as the blog is now really starting to look and feel like my own now.

Major background change using CSS

April 25th, 2008 | Category: Dreamweaver, CSS and PHP, Uncategorized

I then took the changing of CSS to the next level and made drastic changes to the background of my blog. Firstly I removed the original, rather plain background images. I then created a new image in photoshop that I wanted to replace it with. Once I had finished making the picture  I then saved it to the images folder in my wordpress document, which then automatically shows in my dreamweaver.

Once this showed in dreamweaver I then uploaded it to the server. Then I went into the Style Sheets folder in wordpress and added the image to the background in the body section of the style sheet. The end result is a new picture showing in the background of my blog. This is starting to show an understanding of how CSS actually works.

Changes to Theme using CSS

April 25th, 2008 | Category: Dreamweaver, CSS and PHP, Uncategorized

I have made a few bigger changes to my blog using CSS. In order to do this I went into my styles sheets in the theme editor. I then changed the text body colour to blue using a really helpful website that lists CSS colour codes. The web address for this is http://html-color-codes.com/ . I then went to the body section and deleted the original code for the original text colour and replaced it with the new colour code.

Tried signing up for Snap Widget…but got stuck.

April 21st, 2008 | Category: Themes, Plugins and Widgets, Uncategorized

I thought I would be brave and take my multimedia adventure to the next level, and install the snap previewer facility onto my blog. I signed up to an account on snap.com and generated the required code, but I did not have the faintest idea how where the code needs to be pasted in dreamweaver. I am afraid that I am now at a position where I will require Mez’s expertise during Friday’s lecture. I am pleased with the progress made this week and hopefully in the next few weeks I will be able to try some more complicated bits and pieces on my site. until Friday, thats all folks….
